We went to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens today, which is a mighty long haul from my corner of the suburbs, but they had 50,000 pumpkins and a friend invited us to go and the weather was nice, so we went! It was really fun!
There was a maze made of hay bales, but Claire seems to have made her own rules about a maze and how to complete it.
Preston was mostly not impressed by the pumpkins, but tolerated our exploration and inspection of them. (EIGHT MONTHS OLD YESTERDAY. TIME: IT FLIES.)
It’s been cool for about three days here in Texas, which means I am starting to think about where I put my winter coat, since I will so obviously need it soon. (Temperatures have been briefly dipping into the…SIXTIES. Oh, we Texans are a hilarious bunch, aren’t we?) We’re spending more time outside and I know there’s a version of seasonal-weather-hate where ever you happen to live, but here in Texas, we rejoice when summer is over and we look forward to winter EVER SO MUCH. (If it snows even one time, we will think that is very novel and shut down the entire city.) These next six weeks are some of the best weather of the year and I plan to spend as many of my hours outside as possible.
The girls are amazing, the boy is fabulous, and Chris and I are doing (remarkably!) well with the three or five hours of sleep we seem to grab each night. Life is nice right now.
